Student Life at HCA
Faith in Daily Life
At Holy Cross Academy, faith is woven into each day. Morning prayer sets a Christ-centered tone, and weekly, the school gathers for Mass. Students also have regular opportunities for Confession and Eucharistic Adoration, deepening their spiritual lives. Beyond the classroom, service projects and retreats help students live out their faith. At HCA, faith is not just learned—it is lived.

Community Engagement
At Holy Cross Academy, students fulfill a community service requirement through various acts of service, including organizing food drives, visiting nursing homes, assisting mothers and babies in need, and supporting local charities. These are just a few ways students grow in charity.
Sports
At Holy Cross Academy, our sports programs promote faith, teamwork, and discipline.
Holy Cross Academy competes in the North Country Athletic Conference (NCAC) for soccer, basketball, and softball, while our swim team participates in Section 3. Golf, along with bowling and volleyball, is offered as an intramural sport, giving students more ways to stay active and engaged.
The Arts

High School art classes include studio art, creative crafts, ceramics and sculpture, graphic design and drawing and painting. Music classes offer general music theory, choir and instrumental lessons. Drama club brings stories to life through improvisation, skits, and musical productions. Students can audition or work behind the scenes.

Is busing available for my child? If you live within 15 miles of the school, or if there is at least one student already being bused from your district, your home school district must provide busing. The busing application deadline is April 1 (in some cases, you may have more time). Please apply for busing even if undecided about enrollment. Families who live outside the 15 mile limit have arranged carpooling.

Do students have to be Catholic? No, it is not required to be Catholic to attend Holy Cross Academy, but all students—Catholic and non-Catholic—must participate in religion classes, field trips, religious activities and must attend their home church regularly. Students are expected to be respectful of and open to the Catholic Faith. A passing grade in religion is required for graduation.

What does the dress code require?HCA instituted a professional dress code - instead of mandating a school uniform - so that students learn to dress in a manner conducive for their pursuit of knowledge and virtue. Neat and modest attire is required: shirt, tie, dress pants and shoes for boys; dress or skirt and blouse and shoes for girls. The dress code adds to the atmosphere of respect for self and others. More specifics can be found in the Family Handbook.
